Two Year Drug Investigation Leads To Arrests

A nearly two year investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies has resulted in the arrest of three persons and the seizure of Methamphetamine and Cocaine. The investigation was initiated by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division in December of 2008 and involved agents from the Moore County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, Sanford Police Departments Tactical Narcotics Team and Selective Enforcement Unit, Broadway Police Department, US Customs (ICE), US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms (ATF), NC State Bureau of Investigation and the North Carolina Department of Revenue. Investigators believe the suspects were connected to a large scale distribution network responsible for transporting and selling large quantities of drugs in central North Carolina. Agents seized approximately 420 grams of Methamphetamine and 252 grams of Cocaine and several illegal firearms as a result of the investigation. Charges have been filed against two more suspects that have not been located at the time of this press release and the investigation is still currently active. As a result of the investigation, the following persons were charged.

Lazaro Guerrero Castro, 48, of 157 Gunter Street, Sanford, was arrested and charged with 11 counts of trafficking Methamphetamine by sell, 11 counts of trafficking Methamphetamine by possession, 3 counts of trafficking Cocaine by sale, 3 counts of trafficking Cocaine by possession, felony maintaining a dwelling to store drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Castro was placed in the Lee County Jail under $2,000,000.00 secured bond.

Dora Alicia Guerrero, 29, of 312 Hickory Ave, Sanford, was arrested and charged with 2 counts of trafficking Methamphetamine by sell, 2 counts of trafficking Methamphetamine by possession, conspiracy to traffic Cocaine, and conspiracy to traffic Methamphetamine. She was placed in the Lee County Jail under $500,000.00 secured bond. In addition, immigration detainers were placed on her after it was discovered that she was an illegal alien from El Salvador.

Dago Alfredo Guerrero, 27, of 157 Gunter Street, Sanford, was charged with trafficking Cocaine by Sale, trafficking Cocaine by possession, Conspiracy to traffic Cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Lee County Jail under $500,000.00 secured bond. In addition, immigration detainers were placed on him after it was discovered he was an illegal alien from El Salvador.
