Son Charged with Assault on Parents

6/17/2019 @ 6:38 PM deputies were called to an assault at 364 Bailey Thomas Rd., where Michael Cameron Thomas and Teresa Perry Thomas, both of that address, were found to be suffering injuries.

Michael Thomas was flown to UNC Hospital for a gunshot wound to the head. Teresa Thomas was transported to CCH for blunt force trauma to her head and was later transferred to UNC Hospitals. Both were listed in stable condition this morning.

Dustin Lee Moore (son) was arrested on scene and charged with 2 counts assault w/ a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill and possessing a firearm by felon; he was held under $230,000 secured.

The victims reported an argument with the son that escalated to him pointing a .22 rifle at the Teresa and striking her with the gun in the head. Michael Thomas reported he then attempted to disarm Moore and the gun discharged, striking him, during the struggle.
