OC Johnson - Lee County Deputy Passes Away at 94
Oliver Claiborn Johnson Sr., LCSO's first black sheriff's deputy died August 13 at the age of 94. "OC" was a respected figure in Lee county. OC worked at the LCSO from 1964 - 1986 and filled multiple positions, including jailer, patrol officer and detective. He was also employed by Sanford and Durham police departments as well.
Sheriff Carter said that Johnson's role as the first black deputy paved the way for others to move forward. OC treated people the way he would want them to treat him. A "top shelf" figure of a man.
