Scammer Arrested

Several Lee County residence reported a scam involving a male subject placing riding lawn mowers and swimming pools for sale on Facebook in a popular group called “Lee County NC for sale/free/buy/trade.” When victims met the male subject, he would receive money and provide a false address for the victims to pick up the items sold. The male subject was using several different fictitious female accounts. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office conducted an undercover operation and arrested Christopher Donald Kivett, 28 of 6249 Edwards Rd for Obtaining Property by False Pretense, Attempted Obtaining Property by False Pretense and Resist, Delay and Obstruct.

He was placed in the Lee County Jail under a $20,000 secured bond with other charges pending.
