Alledged Juke Joint Closed Down!

Broadway Police Department and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office shut down what they called an illegal nightclub in the town limits Monday, according to a press release. Authorities arrested five in the joint investigation into the club, known as “Redwine ’s,” located at 818 Burgess Circle in Broadway. Agents with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said the property was an old trailer that had been converted to look like a bar. The man who was alleged to have been running the bar reportedly told authorities he’d been running the operation since some time in the 1970s. At the scene, agents seized small amounts of marijuana, cash and liquor. Charged at the scene were: ■ Leroy Redwine , 62, of 816 Burgess Circle, Broadway. He was charged with possession of alcohol for sale and cited to court. ■ Gregory Scott Jackson, 33, 906 Boykin Ave, Sanford. He was charged with possession with intent to sell marijuana, maintaining a vehicle to store drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Lee County Jail under $ 10,000 secured bond. ■ Anthony Devaris Chalmers, 26, of 70 Gabrielle Terrace, Sanford. He was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Lee County Jail under $ 3,000 secured bond. ■ Samuel Roosevelt Owens, 22, of 1001 Vance St., Sanford. He was charged with possession of marijuana and cited to court. ■ Michael Epstine Graham, 31, of 270 Hunter Ridge, Sanford. He was charged with possession of marijuana and cited to court.
