Thirty Pounds of Drugs Found During Traffic Stop


Mario Lamar Bryan, 27, of Charleston South Carolina, was arrested on 12-29-2007 and charged with Trafficking Marijuana, maintaining a vehicle to store drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to stop for blue light and siren and speeding to elude arrest. He was placed in the Lee County Jail under $50,000.00 secured bond. The incident began when county drug agents and county detectives attempted to stop a car on Colon road as part of an on going drug investigation. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and traveled down Colon road into the city of Sanford before turning around and heading back out Colon road while being pursued by deputies. The chase ended on Colon road near the intersection of Post Office road when the suspect collided with a county vehicle being driven by a Sheriff’s Office detective, causing minor damage to both vehicles. Upon his arrest, approximately 30 pounds of Marijuana was discovered in the trunk of the vehicle valued at more than $72,000.00. The North Carolina Highway Patrol was called in to investigate the collision and cited the driver with other traffic violations.
