Bust Yields Guns and Drugs

An undercover operation conducted by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division resulted in two (2) arrests and the seizure of approximately 9 pounds of Marijuana and various items of drug paraphernalia. Nicholas Alexander Allen, 28, of 3845 St. Andrews Church Road, Sanford, was arrested on 8-26-2008 and charged with possession with intent to sale and deliver Marijuana, Sell and delivery or Marijuana, Maintaining a dwelling to store drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Lee County Jail under $10,000.00 secured bond. Marlin Anthony Smith, 21, of 108 S. 4th street, Sanford was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver Marijuana, maintaining a vehicle to store drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Lee County Jail under $5000.00 secured bond. In addition to the drugs, agents seized a GMC pick up truck, 3 firearms and nearly $1000.00 in US currency. The drugs had a potential street value of nearly $22,000.00.

It is frightening to think that these criminals are armed with the fire-power shown in several of these recent article's photos, especially in residential communities.

It really makes one wonder if these weapons were for bragging rights, or what they thought they would accomplish with them in a confrontation. Surely they realize it is a no win situation, or maybe they don't. Again, very scary.

Thanks again, and good work keeping the pressure on these criminals so they know Lee County is not a haven for these activities.
