Breaking News! Sheriff Carter Gets Locked Up!

On November 19th, Sheriff Carter and other members of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office will join the ranks of other supporters to participate in the annual fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) at Bella Bistro at 133 S. Steele St. Sanford.

Citizens, office and business workers from around Sanford can sign up as volunteers and help raise money to aid in the battle over Muscular Dystrophy.

Lee County Sheriff Tracy Carter and others will be "served" papers, placed in a jail uniform and then "locked up". Sheriff Carter and the other "Jailbirds" will then be able to use a telephone to raise their bail money by contacting their pledge supporters. After the bail amount is reached, they will be released.
The bail money raised will go to provide a multitude of services. Here are just some examples of what the funds raised at the Lock-Up can achieve to help those in Lee County: $25 provides an annual flu shot for one person, $65 funds one minute of research, $600 sends a child to MDA summer camp for a week, and $2,000 can go towards the purchase of a wheelchair, a set of leg braces or a communication device.

Sheriff Carter has been a strong supporter of the MDA for many years now and enjoys helping to make the Lock-up event a huge success.
