TV Clinic in Jonesboro "taken off the air"...

On 7-29-2009, members of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division executed a search warrant and temporarily closed the TV Clinic, located at 102 East Trade Street in the Jonesboro area of Sanford. As a result of the search, agents arrested the business owner, Ray McMahon Jr., 45, and seized 33 grams of Crack Cocaine with an estimated potential street value of $13,200. Mr. McMahon was placed in the Lee County Jail under $150,000.00 secured bond.

Chapel Hill Resident Arrested For Drugs

Joseph Howard Hall, 30, of 959 Whippoorwill Lane, Chapel Hill, was arrested on 9-24-2009 for trafficking Opium (Hydrocodone), possession of Marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a vehicle to store drugs after a traffic stop by Lee County Deputies. He was placed in the Lee County Jail under $25,500.00 secured bond.

Drug Bust Nets Varoius Drugs and Stolen Firearm

An undercover investigation by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division has resulted in the seizure of Cocaine, Ecstasy, Marijuana, drug Paraphernalia and a stolen 9mm Handgun, and the arrest of one individual.

Agents searched a residence in the Kendale area of Sanford and a vehicle in the Tramway area of Lee County and seized 576 grams of powder Cocaine, 5 dosage units of Ecstasy, a small amount of Marijuana and numerous items of paraphernalia. Agents arrested Federico Vivas Martinez, 22, of 3044 Morgan Mill Road, Raleigh and charged him with Trafficking Cocaine by possession, Trafficking Cocaine by transportation, maintaining a vehicle for the purpose of keeping or storing drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Martinez, an illegal alien from Mexico, was placed in the Lee County Jail under $500,000.00 secured bond. Additional arrest in the case are likely. Lee County Agents were assisted in the investigation by agents of the Moore County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit. The seized drugs have an estimated potential street value of approximately $115,450.00.

Drug Agents Net 673 gms of Cocaine and more

On 7-15-2009, agents with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division arrested Dabiel Crranza Aquires, 37, of S&M Lane, Sanford, for trafficking Cocaine, maintaining a vehicle to store drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. As a result of the investigation, agents seized 673 grams of Cocaine with a potential street value of approximately $134,600 and a 2004 GMC Yukon. Aquires was placed in the Lee County Jail under $100,000.00 secured bond.

Armed Robbery Suspects Arrested

Two men were arrested early Monday morning and charged with armed robbery. Tajammal Sharief Brown, 16, and Dakota Guilliams, 19, were each charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill in connection with a Sunday night incident in which they are accused of forcing a vehicle off of Henley Road, firing multiple shots and robbing the passengers. When the victims reported the robbery, sheriff's deputies were able to piece together information in order to obtain a search warrant for Brown's home at 303 N. Horner Blvd. After executing the warrant around 2 a.m. Monday, deputies found six firearms and a large amount of marijuana inside. Brown and Guilliams, as well a third suspect who was cited and released, were inside the home. Deputies have said they suspect the robbery was the result of a drug deal gone bad. Brown, who is a rising junior at Lee County High School and spent at least part of the last school year as a member of the school's junior varsity football team, is also charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and maintaining a dwelling for drugs. Sheriff Tracy Carter said the department has information that the suspects are gang members. Deputies also seized a go-kart they said was reported stolen."There will be further charges for some of these stolen items," Carter said. The raid was conducted by members of the Lee County Sheriff's Office detective division, SWAT team, narcotics division, patrol division, and canine unit. The investigation was also conducted with help from the Sanford Police Department, Carter said. Brown was placed in the Lee County Jail under a $116,000 secured bond. Guilliams was placed in the Lee County Jail under $50,000 secured bond.

Sheriff's "Rising Stars" Program Gets Ready for Kick-Off!

Camp to be help July 27th - July 31st!

Sheriff Carter and his staff are putting the final pieces together this week as they prepare to launch this years "Sheriff's Rising Stars" program. This one week day camp is designed for students to learn a variety of legal information pertaining to the criminal justice system and leadership skills and traits. However, what the Sheriff and his staff are excited about the most is that this will allow the youth of our community to interact with local law enforcement and learn more about what they actually do!

Sheriff Carter said that "this is yet another extension of Community Policing which our community is starving for."

The summer camp will consist of a variety of events from light physical training, classroom instruction on law enforcement to field trips and much more! The Lee County Sheriff's office will provide activities and will even provide free lunches for the participants. Deputies and a cast of volunteers within the organization will supervise and conduct all of the instruction. Some of the topics will include, but not limited to; Role of the Magistrate, History of the Sheriff, Tour of the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Instruction in areas of Fingerprinting; Photography; Crime scene sketch; Courtroom testimony mock trail; Boating safety, Canine demonstration and much, much more! 3 More Dope Dealers Off The Streets

Franklin Kenneth Spruill, 38, of 380 Grant Street, Sanford, was arrested on 7-8-2009 for possession with intent to sell and deliver Marijuana, maintaining a dwelling to store drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia after county agents executed a search warrant at his home and discovered 259 grams of marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Lee County Jail under $10,000.00 secured bond.

Jenny Aurora Guerra, 23, of 1216 Cederhurst Drive, Sanford, was arrested on 7-9-2009 and charged with possession of a schedule I controlled substance (Ecstasy), possession of Marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop by county drug agents. She was placed in the Lee County Jail under $5000.00 secured bond.

Aisha Koya Hall, 23, of 219 Circle Ave, Sanford, was arrested on 7-10-2009 for possession with intent to sell and deliver Crack Cocaine, possession of Marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after county agents executed a search warrant at her home and discovered 21 dosage units of Crack Cocaine and 4 grams of Marijuana. She was placed in the Lee County Jail under $26,000.00 secured bond.

St. Baldrick's is the world's largest volunteer-driven fundraising event for childhood cancer research. Thousands of volunteers shave their heads in solidarity of children with cancer, while requesting donations of support from friends and family.

At a St. Baldrick's event, something amazing happens. People who normally shy away from the very thought of childhood cancer find themselves compelled to support this cause after looking into the face of these brave children who are smiling broadly as their friends and family members proudly display their newly shorn heads.

Volunteers and donors see it can be fun to support a serious cause. Young cancer patients and survivors see how many people care. And researchers see St. Baldrick's funds helping to find cures!

City Man Arrested for Cocaine & Other Charges

On 6-30-2009, The Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division executed a search warrant at 410 Midland Avenue, Sanford. As a result of the search, Orecko Johnson, 33, of the home was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver Cocaine, maintaining a dwelling to keep/store drugs, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance within 300 feet of a day care center, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Lee County Jail under $50,000.00 secured bond.
