Deep River Shooting Injurys One, One Arrested
On 1/5/2011, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call of shots fired at the intersection of Wendy Lane and Deep River Rd. When deputies arrived they spoke with Thomas Maynor and Andrew Heins, both of Sanford, who reported that Evan Coggins, also of Sanford, produced a firearm and began shooting at both Maynor and Heins. During the gun fire, car’s owned by Thomas Maynor and Andrew Heins were struck. In addition, a ricochet from one of the fired projectiles struck Andrew Heins in the right shoulder. Mr. Heins received no medical treatment. Evan Bryant Coggins, 21 of 236 Wendy Lane was arrested, at his residence, without incident. Mr. Coggins has been charged with two counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, two counts of Injury to Personal Property and one count of Going Armed to the Terror of the Public. He was placed in Lee County Jail under a $200,000 secured bond.
