The
Lee County Sheriff’s Office is now offering a cash reward for information in regards to the shooting of a hunter that occurred on December 18, 2012 at the NC Game
lands on Lower River Rd. All information provided to the sheriff’s office will remain

On 12/18/2012 @ 8:13 PM deputies responded to the NC Wildlife Game Lands located on Lower River Rd. near Gunther Rd. in reference to a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Robert Mathew Devitto (26) of 237 Strike Eagle Dr. Broadway NC (Harnett Co.) was found by friends after he failed to return home after a hunting trip by himself. Devitto’s friends reported his wife became concerned after he went duck hunting alone in Lee County sometime around 4PM and had not returned by around 7:30 PM. Devitto’s friends were aware of the location he duck hunts and set out to find him. Devitto was located at approximately 8:10 PM suffering from a gunshot wound, his friends called 911.
Devitto was flown via helicopter to Wake Med where he has been listed in critical condition.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case however it is unclear at this time if Devitto was confronted by another hunter or this was a hunting accident. Please from Roberts family, if you had seen or heard anything in this area around that time please come forward and tell someone. Help us relieve some of the pain by getting so many of our questions answered. Robert is still fighting for his life, please help us find the truth about what happened.
