Fake checks, including cashiers checks, can look so real even bank tellers can be fooled. However, just because you can withdraw the money, doesn't mean the check is good. Forgeries can take weeks to discover. You are responsible for the checks you deposit. If a check bounces, you owe the bank any money you withdrew.
Some Lee county citizens have received checks just like this one shown. The check
arrived in the mail in a brown manilla envelope which was labeled
"PRIORITY". The check looks extremely legit. The header on the check is as follows:
REJOICE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL
13413 E. 106TH STREET NORTH
OWASSO, OK 74055-0550
The bank is also listed:
RBC BANK
PO BOX 189
CLAREMORE, OK 74018-0000
The back of the check looks legit too, as it has an
endorsement area, and says ORIGINAL DOCUMENT as the watermark.
If someone wants to send you a check, insist on a cashier's check for the exact amount, preferably from a local bank or one with a branch in your area. Never accept a check and then agree to send a portion of the money back to the sender. There is no need to contact our department if you get one of these, just shred the check and whatever you do, DON'T CASH IT!

These are your basic account clean-out checks! Thanks for the notice, Sheriff Carter. I wish there were a law that prevented imitation checks. They come from all kinds of legit businesses but are "false promises" that waste your time. Especially the ones made to look like a tax refund.
