Two Arrested for Drugs

On Friday October 17, 2014 the Lee County Sheriff’s Office accompanied by North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations CLAN Lab Response Team and Sanford Police Select Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant at 555 Key Rd. Sanford, NC 27331. 

      North Carolina State agents along with Lee County Narcotics agents found components indicative of a meth lab.  Herbert Clayton Moretz age 81 of 555 Key Rd. was charged with felony maintaining a dwelling place, felony maintaining a vehicle that was resorted for the use of controlled substance, felony accessory after the fact and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

      Eddie Bird age 34 of 6831 Old Jefferson Davis Hwy. Sanford, NC 27331 was also arrested in connection to the meth lab.  Bird has been charged with manufacturing methamphetamines and three counts of possession of precursor chemicals.  

     Moretz is being held in the Lee County Jail under a $75,000.00 dollar secure bond.  Bird is also being held in the Lee County Jail under a   $60,000.00 dollar secure bond.  Bird was also served with outstanding warrants for probation violation, driving while license revoked, resisting a public officer and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Birds bond was raised to $136,000.00 dollar secure bond.
