Sheriff's Office Staff Plays Santa

"They don't get a lot of visitors, and some of them don't have families to visit. And some of them, for whatever reason, may not be there next year."

It's a treat for the staff of the Lee County Sheriff's Office that involved in the effort to get out and visit those elderly citizens that have made Lee County what it is.

The department starts gathering items in the Fall and some items are even donated by the community.

Sheriff Carter said "It's about the spirit of giving. And more than anything, it's about teaching everybody that we've gotten into such a state of mind, that it's the little things that mean so much to so many. And the senior citizens sometimes are forgotten in the process. This has been something that my staff and I have enjoyed doing every year."

"Even in trying times, we figure out how to put smiles on the faces of these folks."
