LCSO Partners with Nextdoor

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has partnered with a private online network called Nextdoor. Nextdoor is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. Nextdoor makes it easy to connect with your neighbors and build stronger, safer, happier places to call home. You can get updates on community events and LCSO news by going to www.nextdoor.com and regsitering to get updates! Its free and very easy to use. You don't need a smartphone to use it but you do need an email address.

Nextdoor was created based on the idea that the neighborhood is one of the most important and useful communities in a person's life.

You can either go to their website (www.nextdoor.com) or download their IOS app or the Android app and be on your way within a few clicks!

If you already are connected and have a Nextdoor.com account, you'll notice in the navigation menu to the left "Local Agencies".  This is where you'll find us.

Thousands of neighborhoods across the country are already using Nextdoor to:
  • Find trustworthy local resources, such as babysitters, plumbers, and dentists
  • Report suspicious activity and local crime
  • Organize neighborhood events, such as garage sales and block parties
  • Get assistance in finding lost pets and missing packages
  • Sell or give away items, like an old kitchen table or bike
Nextdoor’s mission is to use the power of technology to build stronger and safer neighborhoods. The inspiration behind Nextdoor was to give people a social network to connect them to one of the most important communities in their lives - the neighborhood. Nextdoor believes that when neighbors start talking, good things happen.

LCSO cannot see the posted activity within your neighborhood but it does allow all those that are connected (or "friends" of LCSO via Nextdoor) to receive alerts and community updates.   If you should any questions, contact our Community Policing Unit at 919-775-5531.
