ATV Strikes Patrol Vehicle, ATV Driver Killed

3/18/2016 at approximately 1:00 AM, a Lee County Sheriff’ Office patrol vehicle was struck by an ATV while on E. Forest Oaks Rd. in Lee County. 

Deputy Manuel Torres reported the ATV crossed the center lane of the road and struck his vehicle. Deputy Torres was taken to Central Carolina Hospital for evaluation and later released.

The Sanford man operating the ATV died onscene.

The accident is being investigated by the NC Highway Patrol.
