BackPack Pals

BackPack Pals started in September 2008 by providing food to Lee County students who have little or nothing to eat on the weekend.  Children are identified as candidates for the program through input from teachers, counselors and school administration.

Food bags are sent home every Friday afternoon with 10-12 non-perishable, easy to fix food items.

Through community support this program has grown from 3 schools serving 40 students in 2008 to serving over 350 students in each elementary school plus Floyd Knight, San Lee Middle and Warren Williams children center.  Please consider supporting this program by volunteering your time, monetary donations or collecting food items.

This is a great opportunity for civic or church groups to give back to the community!  Set up a box at your church, business, etc and supply the list from the link below and start collecting!  Once your box is full, bring it by the CUOC in Sanford (2885 Lee Ave)  They can be reached at 919-774-8485.  They are also taking monetary donations as well. If your organization needs assistance in delivering collected items, please contact our Community Policing Unit at the number below and we'll make arrangements to assist you.
