Steel Bridge Road Couple Arrested Following Chase, Drugs and Stolen Firearm


On Saturday, July 1st 2017, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics agents arrested Akil Matthew Mcaden age 34, of 3990 Steel Bridge Road, Sanford. After an attempt to elude agents in a vehicle and to destroy evidence, Mcaden was apprehended and taken into custody.

Agents had three outstanding arrest warrants for Mcaden. Mcaden was processed by agents for 3 counts of possession with the intent to sell and deliver heroin, 3 counts of selling heroin, 2 counts of felony maintaining a dwelling place (3990 Steel Bridge Road) used for the storage and sales of illegal controlled substances and 3 counts of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. It is unclear at this time what exactly Mcaden attempted to destroy while in the process of eluding agents, but a small amount was recovered from the road side in a clear plastic bag. Agents are treating it as possibly the deadly drug fentanyl that is being mixed into the already potent drug heroin. Mcaden was jailed under a $100,000.00 secured bond.

Meanwhile agents applied for a search warrant of the residence and property located at 3990 Steel Bridge Road, Sanford. Agents executed the search warrant and during the course of the search agents located a stolen Glock model 19 firearm, 4.3 grams of heroin, 45 dosage units of Suboxone, and 2.9 grams of marijuana.

It was later discovered by agents that the Glock model 19 firearm had been reported stolen on June 19th to the Sanford Police Department.

Jessica McCoy age 27, the other primary resident of 3990 Steel Bridge Road, Sanford was arrested by agents and charged with 1 count of trafficking heroin, 1 count of possession with the intent to sell and deliver 45 dosage units of Suboxone, 1 count of possession of a stolen firearm, and 1 count of misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Mcaden who was currently in the Lee County Jail was charged with the additional charges, 1 count of trafficking heroin, 1 count of possession with the intent to sell and deliver 45 dosage units of Suboxone, 1 count of felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, 1 count of possession of a stolen firearm, 1 count of flee to elude, and 1 count of misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Akil Matthew Mcaden was jailed under an additional $190,000.00 secured bond totaling $290,000.00 on all charges with the exception to the charge of possession of firearm by felon.

Mcaden was placed under a no bond status.

McCoy was jailed under a $175,000.00 bond.
