Winston Salem Man Arrested for Cocaine

On Monday, August 28th 2017, Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics agents arrested Samuel Sifuentes Rodriguez, age 37, of 5040 lot 94 of Old Village Lane, Winston Salem, NC.

Rodriguez was found in possession of approximately one gram of Cocaine. Rodriguez was charged with 1 count of felony possession Cocaine, 1 count of altering/destroying/ criminal evidence, and 1 count of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Rodriguez was held under $10,000.00 secured bond.

As everyone knows, Hurricane Harvey has caused mass destruction of homes and personal property of families in the state of Texas. In the wake of the natural disaster, you may choose to assist by giving a donation to a charity that provides assistance to victims.  While, the generosity is greatly appreciated, I want to remind you that disasters like this bring out the worst of the worst in the cyber world.

Scammers will try to get you to click on malicious links, or get you to enter your credit card information for donations into bogus sites.  I want you to be safe and  to get your donation to the right people.

Here are a few safety tips:

It is wise to give only to charities you are already familiar with .
If you choose to give, type the link of your favorite charity into your browser.
Do NOT respond to emails that you receive asking for you to click on a charitable site or be misled with the fake Facebook pages or Twitter links.

County Man Arrested For Crack

On Wednesday, August 23^rd, 2017 the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics agents arrested JJ Jackson, age 24 of 1464 Black Road, Sanford, NC. 

Jackson was charged with 2 counts of felony possession with the intent to sell and deliver (CRACK) Cocaine, 2 counts of felony sell and deliver (CRACK) Cocaine, 2 counts of felony maintaining a dwelling place for the storage and sells of an illegal controlled substance, and 2 counts of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Jackson was held under a $15,000.00 secured bond.

Two Arrested For Drugs & Other Charges

On Friday August 18, 2017 Lee County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area of Russell Street Sanford NC 27330 for suspicious activity. Upon the arrival of deputies three individuals were located in a motor vehicle stationary in the middle of Russell Street with an overwhelming odor of marijuana coming from within the motor vehicle. Further investigation revealed that one of the three occupants was wanted on felony criminal charges. Further investigation revealed 3.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine, approximately two grams of cocaine and a small amount of marijuana being located in control of Luis and Fabio Perez.


1.     On Friday, August 18th, 2017 Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics agents Fabio Cesar Perez, 22 years old of 3185 Rosser Pittman Road Broadway NC 27505 for possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a vehicle to distribute drugs and drug paraphernalia. Perez was given a $10,000.00 secured bond and placed in the Lee County Detention facility.

2.    On Friday, August 18th, 2017 Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics agents Luis Angel Perez, 19 years old of 3185 Rosser Pittman Road Broadway NC 27505 for possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, maintaining a vehicle to distribute drugs, and drug paraphernalia. Luis Perez was wanted for breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering and possession of stolen goods/property. Williams was given a $16,000.00 secured bond and placed in the Lee County Detention facility.

Clays 4Kay Event - Great Success!

My staff and I participated in the annual "Clays 4Kay" fundraiser event at Deep River Sporting Clays today. We had a great time! Enjoyed some awesome food, great fellowship, but more importantly, did our share to raise funds for a such an important cause!

Joint Investigation Leads to 2 Arrests; 4 Pounds of Meth

On Tuesday, August 15^th 2017, a six month investigation led by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Moore County Sheriff’s Office, Harnett County Sheriff’s Office, Sanford Police Department and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation’s came to an end. In the course of the six month Mendoza investigation, German Alvarez Mendoza and Federico Alvarez Mendoza had unknowingly led agents to the seizure of two pounds of crystal methamphetamine. On Tuesday, August 15^th 2017 German Alvarez Mendoza was stopped by the Moore County Sheriff’s Office and Aberdeen Police Department in the parking lot of the Aberdeen Town and Country center. In the course of the arrest agents located two pounds of crystal methamphetamine in a 2005 Honda Accord being operated by German Alvarez Mendoza.

German Alvarez Mendoza age 41 of 283 Cooper Store Road, Cameron NC, was arrested and charged 4 counts of trafficking in methamphetamine, 2 counts of possession with the intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine, 2 counts of felony maintaining of a vehicle used for the storage of a controlled substance, and 2 counts of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. German Alvarez Mendoza was jailed under a $250,000.00 secured bond.

Federico Alvarez Mendoza was arrested at his home located at 1701 Cameron Hill Road, Cameron NC, and charged with 3 counts of conspiracy to traffic crystal methamphetamine and jailed under a $200,000.00 secured bond.

The total amount of crystal methamphetamine seized throughout the investigation is 4 pounds which has a total street value of $40,000.00. More charges are pending for both subjects at this time.

Search Warrant Executed on Oakwood Ave; 3 Arrested

On Thursday, August 17th, 2017 Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics agents executed a search warrant for drugs at 308 Oakwood Avenue Sanford NC 27330. As a result of the search agents recovered 272 grams of marijuana individually packaged in various amounts throughout the residence, 5 grams of cocaine, numerous sets of digital scales, a Glock Model 19 Semi-Automatic pistol, a 50 round drum style pistol magazine, a 31 round pistol magazine and numerous rounds of ammunition.  Agents arrested three individuals for the distribution of controlled substances and petitioned one juvenile also.

On Thursday, August 17th, 2017 Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics agents arrested Derrick Dion Williams, 23 years old of 803 Oakwood Avenue Sanford NC 27330 for Possession with intent to sale and deliver cocaine, Possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a residence to distribute drugs and drug paraphernalia. Williams was given a $30,000.00 secured bond and placed in the Lee County Detention facility.

On Thursday, August 17th, 2017 Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics agents arrested Dominick Devonn Williams, 19 years old of 803 Oakwood Avenue Sanford NC 27330 for Possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a residence to distribute drugs and drug paraphernalia. Williams was given a $45,000.00 secured bond and placed in the Lee County Detention facility. Williams also had an outstanding order for arrest for failure to appear for Larceny in Lee County.

On Thursday, August 17th, 2017 Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics agents arrested Savon Khalili Rollins, 23 years old of 1103 South Seventh Street Sanford NC 27330 for Possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a residence to distribute drugs and drug paraphernalia. Williams was given a $10,000.00 secured bond and placed in the Lee County Detention facility.

Clays 4Kay @ Deep River Sporting Clays

Again, Kay Yow Cancer Fund is partnering with Deep River Sporting Clays on Friday, August 18th to host "Clays4Kay", a one-of-a-kind clay shooting tournament with teams of five competing for top honors. The 2016 event was a sold out event and raised over $12,000!



The Clays 4Kay Event benefits the Kay Yow Cancer Fund with a unique opportunity to come out to Deep River Sporting Clays & Shooting School and shoot a round of "PINK" sporting clays with "PINK" shotgun shells to raise funds and awareness in the fight against all women's cancer. Each participant receives 50 clays spread out over 13 stations.
Teams have already been secured (including one from the Sheriff's Office) and I'd like to invite the public to come and show your support for one of our favorite landmark annual community fundraisers for a disease that doesn't discriminate! You never know who you'll see during this event!

Activities start @ 10AM with a shotgun start.  Awards ceremony will be held for the winning team and individuals at approximately 1pm.

SHERIFF CARTER OFFERS SAFETY TIPS FOR BACK TO SCHOOL

Sheriff Tracy Carter offers some safety tips for those youngsters who will be walking back and forth to school this year.

“Parents can teach their children the following safety tips which will inform the youngsters of the danger signs to watch for and avoid when walking between school and home,” Sheriff Carter said.

“Drivers should be cautious of children walking back and forth to school,” added the Sheriff. “We can all learn from the safety tips below and abide by them to make Lee County safer for all.”

· While walking, remember to always travel with a friend. Two heads are better than one, especially if there’s an emergency. 

· A stranger is anyone you or your parents don’t know well. 

· You or your friend must never take candy, money, medicine or anything else from a stranger. 

· If a stranger in a car asks you questions, don’t get close to the car (you could get pulled in) – and never get in the car. 

· Strangers can be very tricky – they can ask you to walk with them to “show” them something; they can offer to pay for your video game, or ask you to help them find a lost dog or cat. Don’t be fooled! 

· Don’t tell anyone your name or address when you’re walking and don’t think that because someone knows your name that they know you – they may just be looking at your name printed on your lunch box, school bag or T-shirt. 

· If you think you’re in any danger, yell, and run to the nearest store or “safe house” or back to school. 

· Always tell your parents or teacher if a stranger has approached you.

“By taking the time to carefully prepare your child on how to handle these situations, you can insure your child’s safety whether they are on their way to school or home, playing on a playground or riding their bikes,” Sheriff Carter concludes.
