On 01-31-2019 Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Agents arrested Joseph David Phelps II, 29 years old of 1511 Rollins Store Road Sanford NC, 27332 for Possession with intent to sell and deliver MDMA (Molly), Sell and Deliver MDMA (Molly), and drug paraphernalia.
Phelps II. was jailed under a $5,000.00 secured bond.
Reward Offered For Information on Overnight Shooting

Information as of time of this press release is that 3 masked men entered the residence, at least one armed w/ a pistol began shooting at the victim. There were 3 other occupants in the residence who were unharmed. Investigation is ongoing.

Sanford Woman Arrested During Traffic Stop for Drugs and Warrants
On Thursday January 24, 2019 Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics agents were called to assist Lee County uniform deputies with a traffic stop. Uniform deputies had initiated a traffic stop of a vehicle in the North Plank area of Lee County. Deputies had learned that one of the occupants of the vehicle, Lisa Marie Partington was entered into NCIC, wanted by Carteret County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear. Uniform deputies arrested Lisa Marie Partington age 38 of 158 Wayne’s Landing, Sanford.
In the course of the arrest, deputies found a pill bottle containing approximately one tenth of a gram of crystal methamphetamine, thirteen dosage units of Suboxone and fourteen dosage units of Alprazolam prescription medication.
Agents transported Partington to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office for processing. Agents charged Partington with one count of felony possession of crystal methamphetamine, one count of possession with the intent to sell and deliver a schedule III controlled substance, and one count of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Partington was jailed under a $15,000.00 secured bond.

Center Church Road Woman Arrested For Drugs
On Tuesday January 22, 2019 Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics agents arrested Jennifer Coggins, age 37 of 300 Center Church Road, Sanford.
Coggins was found by uniformed Deputy’s to be in possession of a half of a gram of crystal methamphetamine. Coggins was processed and charged by agents with one count of felony possession of crystal methamphetamine, and one count of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Coggins was jailed under a $5,000.00 secured bond.

Community Emergency Response Team Training To Be Held in March
Lee County CERT will be holding a 21-hour CERT Basic Course in March 2019 with the following schedule:
Friday, 15 March 6-9 PM
Saturday, 16 March 8 AM - 5 PM
Friday, 22 March 6-9 PM
Saturday, 23 March 8 AM - 4 PM

Nicholson Rd Man Arrested For Drugs
On Thursday, January 3, 2019 Lee County Narcotics agents arrested Bradley Keith Riggs, age 23
of 2569 Nicholson Road, Sanford.
Agents discovered Riggs to be in possession of approximately 1 gram of heroin, and a half of a gram of crystal methamphetamine. Agents processed and charged Riggs with the below offenses; one count of felony possession of crystal methamphetamine, one count of felony possession heroin, one count of felony maintaining a vehicle used to store and sell an illegal controlled substance, and one count of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Riggs is jailed under a $15,000.00 secured bond.

Sumac Drive Man Detained by Homeland Security
On Wednesday January 3, 2019 Lee County Sheriff’s Office
Narcotics Agents along with the help of US Homeland Security agents conducted
an investigation leading to the arrest of an individual that had illegally
re-entered the US after previous deportation.
Javier Sanchez Cruz Jr., 38 years old of 80 Sumac Drive Sanford had been working as a contract employee on a cleaning crew in a Lee County food processing plant. Cruz had been previously deported in 1998 under an alias of Francisco Rodriguez Ramirez while attempting to enter the US illegally at a Texas border entry point. Cruz illegally re-entered the US some time shortly thereafter and had yet another run in with law enforcement in 2001. In 2001 Cruz was arrested for driving while Intoxicated after being involved in an accident in Ohio under another alias of Carlos Jose Morales Hernandez. After being arrested in Ohio for DWI Cruz would be arrested an additional three times for alcohol related driving offenses, along with numerous citable driving offenses along the way.
Cruz was to appear in Lee County District court on Thursday 01-03-2019 for speeding violation and upon his arrival to the Lee County courthouse deputies took Cruz into custody. Cruz provided agents with the aforementioned alias and presented law enforcement with the same fraudulent identification of Carlos Jose Morales-Hernandez. Cruz was charged with identity Fraud and an alien arrest warrant issued by US Homeland Security was served.

Westover Drive Man Arrested For Drugs
On Wednesday January 2, 2019 Lee County Narcotics agents arrested Tyquan Bernard Jones age 19 of 1508 Westover Drive, Sanford.
Jones was processed and charged by agents for the below offenses; one count felony possession with the intent to sell and deliver heroin, one count of sell and deliver heroin, one count of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Jones was jailed under a $10,000.00 secured bond.
