Sumac Drive Man Detained by Homeland Security


On Wednesday January 3, 2019 Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Agents along with the help of US Homeland Security agents conducted an investigation leading to the arrest of an individual that had illegally re-entered the US after previous deportation.

Javier Sanchez Cruz Jr., 38 years old of 80 Sumac Drive Sanford had been working as a contract employee on a cleaning crew in a Lee County food processing plant. Cruz had been previously deported in 1998 under an alias of Francisco Rodriguez Ramirez while attempting to enter the US illegally at a Texas border entry point. Cruz illegally re-entered the US some time shortly thereafter and had yet another run in with law enforcement in 2001. In 2001 Cruz was arrested for driving while Intoxicated after being involved in an accident in Ohio under another alias of Carlos Jose Morales Hernandez. After being arrested in Ohio for DWI Cruz would be arrested an additional three times for alcohol related driving offenses, along with numerous citable driving offenses along the way.

Cruz was to appear in Lee County District court on Thursday 01-03-2019 for speeding violation and upon his arrival to the Lee County courthouse deputies took Cruz into custody. Cruz provided agents with the aforementioned alias and presented law enforcement with the same fraudulent identification of Carlos Jose Morales-Hernandez. Cruz was charged with identity Fraud and an alien arrest warrant issued by US Homeland Security was served.

Javier Sanchez Cruz is being held in the Lee County Sheriff’s Office detention center under a $5000.00 secured bond and an illegal alien detainer secured by US Homeland Security.
