King was transported to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office for processing. King was charged with one count of probation absconding and held under a $5,000.00 secured bond.
Joint Operation Nets Absconder
On Friday October 11th, 2019, at approximately 12:00 pm, Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics agents received information from Chatham County, NC Probation and Parole Officer R. Kevin Stone in regards to the whereabouts of a long time absconder from probation and parole. Officer Stone advised that he had a good address for Randy Wayne King, age 42, who originally lived at 5665 Old US Highway 1, Chatham County. Officer Stone stated that King had been entered as an absconder for nearly 18 years after being found guilty of assault on female, back in the early parts of 2001 in a Wake County Court. Officer Stone stated that he had received information that Randy Wayne King was now residing in Lee County at the residence located at 203 McNeil Road, Sanford. Agents began surveillance soon after receiving this information and the investigation revealed that King was living at the residence mentioned prior, however not home at the time agents learned this. Agents found that King was on a job site somewhere in the Cumnock area of Lee County. Provided with a picture, agents began combing the area looking for King. When King was spotted in a work truck travelling south on 421 headed back into Sanford, Agents initiated a traffic stop and took King into custody.
