Be advised that several reports have surfaced today in regards to "robo" calls from Duke Energy. The recording states that your service will be disconnected in the next 30 minutes if you do not call a 1-800 number to arrange a payment method. Duke Energy has been contacted and did verify that they do not call their customers for any reason and that all billing related issues are sent by USPS, including final disconnect notices.
LCSO strongly encourages our citizens to not follow any directions provided on these types of calls and to hang-up. If you receive similar notices via email or text, delete them immediately. Last but not least, please share this information to those in their senior years or those family and friends that perhaps do not have access to social media.
