Lee County Sheriff’s deputies seized at least three kilograms of cocaine and arrested a Sanford man Thursday evening. Fidel Salgado Ortega, 27, of 109-A Robbins St. was charged with trafficking cocaine and maintaining a dwelling for drugs after Lee deputies raided his house around 4:30 p.m. Thursday. During the raid, the drug team found at least three — maybe as many as five kilograms of powder cocaine, roughly a pound of marijuana and three firearms. Ortega and a second suspect were at the house at the time of the raid but a second suspect was able to elude the team, Capt. John Holly of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit said, however, deputies know the identity of the suspect and are actively seeking him. Sheriff Tracy Carter said the bust puts a dent in the cocaine supply for Lee County.“These guys were some major distributors of cocaine in this area,” he said.
