Two People have been arrested in connection with a Methamphetamine Lab that was seized on 5-27-2009 on Buckhorn Road. Earl Wayne Abernathy, 50, and Frankie Kelly Abernathy, 44, both of 1382 Buckhorn Road, were charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine, possession of precursor chemicals and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were released under $10,000.00 bond. Christopher Wayne Abernathy, 19, also of the home was charged with manufacturing Marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released under $5000.00 bond. On 5-27-2009, narcotics agents with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search at 1386 Buckhorn Road and discovered a methamphetamine lab and several Marijuana plants growing on the property. After discovering the lab, Lee County agents contacted members of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation Clandestine Laboratory Team who responded to the scene, dismantled and removed the lab, and removed all hazardous materials. Agents were also assisted by the Lee County Fire Marshall and Emergency Management office. The incident is still under investigation and arrest are pending.
