Sanford PD Arrests Two Teens For Shooting Spree

Kudos to the Sanford Police Dept for the arrests of two teenagers after a series of shootings Monday night. Thankfully no one was injured however one home owner did suffer damage to her home on Evergreen Street.

Charged in the shootings were Ricky Brown, 16, of 210 Linden Ave. and Taurean Tyrell Gunter, 18, of 427 Kenwood Trail, with five counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling and discharging a firearm inside the city limits.

SPD authorites said that Brown was brought to them on Tuesday by his mother. Gunter was charged later in the day.

The shootings took place at 424 Evergreen St. and 403 Dudley Ave. at 8:47 p.m. and 10:20 p.m. Monday, respectively. The alleged targets of the shootings were standing near those addresses, officers reported. SPD reported to have found at least a dozen casings in the scenes.

The shootings and arrests come shortly after a resident of Pineland Street which is directly behind Evergreen Street began complaining that his neighborhood had been terrorized by shootings into homes and vehicles over the past several years.

Gunter in particular has a lengthy criminal record, but a search of the state Department of Correction web site shows no time spent in prison.
