Female Suspect Leads Agents on Chase


On 4-27-2011, agents with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division conducted an undercover operation in the Deep River area of Lee County. As a result of the investigation, an undercover Agent purchased 30 dosage units of Hydrocodone and 5 dosage units of Methadone from Sonya Marie Logan, 39, of 3 Mini Mobile Lane, Sanford. As other agents moved in to arrest Logan, she fled the scene in an automobile and led agents on a chase that ended in the Moncure community of Chatham County. Two Lee County Agents were struck by the fleeing vehicle suffering minor injuries. After her arrest, agents discovered that Logan had her two children in the car, ages 4 and 5. Logan was charged with trafficking opium by possession, trafficking opium by transportation, trafficking opium by sale, sell and delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell a controlled substance, (2) two counts of assault with deadly weapon on a government official, felony speeding to elude arrest, (2) two counts of child abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia. Logan was placed in the Lee County Jail under $462,000.00 secured bond.
