Two Arrested For Shooting Into An Occupied Vehicle

08/03/2011 Two employees w/ XRT Distributors located at 8810 Westgate Park Dr. Suite 112 Raleigh NC, Samuel John Nawaz of Zebulon and David Andrew Perseo of Raleigh reported their vehicle was struck by gunfire while on Hawkins Ave. in Lee County at approximately 12:20 PM. The victim’s reported they attempted to sell stereo equipment out the back of a van in Pittsboro when a potential customer (W/M and W/F in blk Acura) became agitated and threw they’re merchandise on the ground. The victims reported they left and drove to Sanford where they stopped at the Short Stop located at 3901 Hawkins Ave. to continue to sell their products. The victim’s reported while at the Short Stop the black Acura drove up after 3-5 minutes and the occupants began to yell obscenities at them. The victims reported they then drove off to get away from the suspects and they were followed down Hawkins Ave. towards Sanford. The victims reported that when they heard load popping noise like gun fire coming from the black Acura. The victims reported they drove back to Raleigh before they found their vehicle had been struck by several bullets. The victims got the tag number from the suspect’s vehicle which led to the identification and arrest of Zachary Zane Smith (24) W/M of 166 Evergreen Dr. Pittsboro NC and Brittany Marie Schuemann (24) W/F of the same address. Both were charged w/ attempted Murder, assault w/ a deadly weapon w/ intent to kill and discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle; they were both held under $100,000 secured bond.
