A joint undercover operation by
the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division on 10-5-2013 has netted
several arrests for the possession and sale of illegal Narcotics. Lee County
Drug Agents and Detectives, assisted by members of the Sanford Police
Departments Tactical Narcotics Division (TNT) and SPD’s Selective Enforcement
Unit (SEU), conducted an undercover operation at an outdoor musical festival in
a wooded area near 6055 Lower Moncure Road on Saturday night (8-5-2013). The
“Magikal Forest” music festival is an annual event held in different locations
around central North Carolina. The following individuals were charged as a
result of the operation.
Steven Joseph Rice, 35, of 712 Penn Street, Raleigh NC, was
arrested and charged with sell and delivery of a Psilocybin (mushrooms), a
schedule I controlled substance, felony possession of a schedule I controlled
substance, possession of Marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and
maintaining a vehicle to store drugs. He was placed in the Lee County Jail
under $27,500 secured bond.
Noble Jerome Christian, 24, of 708 Church Street in Wilmington NC,
was charged with possession of MDMA (Ecstasy), a schedule I controlled
substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Lee County
Jail under $5000.00 secured bond.
Richard Jose Rojas, 22, of 214 Bradley Road, Benson NC, was charged
with possession of Cocaine and possession of Marijuana. He was placed in the
Lee County Jail under $5000.00 secured bond.
Cassandra Lee Bopp, 615 Sampson Ct, Raleigh NC, was charged with
possession of Marijuana and possession of drug Paraphernalia and was cited and
released.
Several others were issued
citations for minor offenses including simple possession and possession of drug
paraphernalia.
