A joint
operation and investigation by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics
Division and the Sanford Police Departments Tactical Narcotics Team has
resulted in the seizure of a Methamphetamine Lab set up in a local motel room
and the arrest of two suspects. Aaron
Richard South, 31, and Jennifer
Green Gouldthorp, 34, were both living in room 172 of the Palomino Motel on
US #1 in Sanford.
The suspects had been under investigation and surveillance by
drug agents from both the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Sanford Police
Department for several days.
On 1-14-2014, Lee County and Sanford drug agents
executed a search warrant on the room and discovered the lab along with an
unknown amount of processed Methamphetamine.
Agents with the State Bureau of
investigation assisted with the investigation and provided specialized Chemist,
cleanup, and hazardous material removal teams.
Both suspects were charged with
Manufacturing Methamphetamine, possession of precursor chemicals, maintaining a
dwelling to store drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Additional
charges are likely upon completion of SBI lab testing. Both suspects were
placed in the Lee County Jail under $175,000.00 secured bond.
