Lee County High School was locked down briefly Thursday while deputies investigated a case of cyberstalking. A student told school resource officers she had received a
threatening text message on her phone from someone she didn’t know. She
said she had denied a friendship request by the person only to receive
the threatening message, which contained personal information about her.
Investigators quickly located the Wake County student that had sent the message. The student admitted he didn’t know the Lee High student and had gotten the personal information from her social media pages. Investigators said no one at Lee High was in danger.
A Juvenile Petition was submitted today to the State.
