Lee County Transport Officer Charged

On Sept. 15, an adult female prisoner reported that while being transported from Lee County to Raleigh she was the victim of sex offenses committed by a detention employee of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Information indicated that the offense had been committed within the city limits of Raleigh, and the Raleigh Police Department was contacted.

A follow-up investigation was conducted by RPD detectives with the assistance of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, and probable cause was developed to charge the suspect, David Adams Jr. (DOB 4/13/60), with one count of second degree sex offense and one count of a sex offense in violation of a state statue, 14-27.7(a), that applies to offenses committed by a person having custody of a victim.

Adams was arrested in Sanford on Saturday and transported to the Wake County Detention Center.
