On
Sept. 15, an adult female prisoner reported that while being
transported from Lee County to Raleigh she was the victim of sex
offenses committed by a detention employee of the Lee County Sheriff’s
Office. Information indicated that the offense had been committed within
the city limits of Raleigh, and the Raleigh Police Department was
contacted.
A follow-up investigation was conducted by RPD detectives with the assistance of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, and probable cause was developed to charge the suspect, David Adams Jr. (DOB 4/13/60), with one count of second degree sex offense and one count of a sex offense in violation of a state statue, 14-27.7(a), that applies to offenses committed by a person having custody of a victim.
