SCAM ALERTSeveral residents have been receiving calls from persons impersonating Publishers Clearing House staff members and telling residents that they have drivers out "on the route" now trying to find them and then start listing prizes they've won. (Cash, Cars, Insurance for a year, etc).
The catch? You provide them a credit card and pay a "simple 5% fee" of $995.23 (which you're told will be refunded once you receive your prize) They also state that the prize(s) will be delivered by two attorneys and a US Marshall. The numbers the scammers are using are 876-788-1643 and 876-844-3841. The numbers are Google numbers listed in Jamaica.
The names these impersonators are using are, but not limited to;
Mr. David Green (Las Vegas)
Mr. Spencer Anderson (General Manager)
We've talked to PCH Fraud department which verified they do not make phone calls to potential winners nor do they ask for any money, account information, etc. Here is a link to their fraud site.
Please never give personal information (SSN, Bank Account, DOB, etc) info to anyone over the phone that you don't know.
If you're required to wire or pay any amount of money in order to claim a prize, it's a Publishers Clearing House Scam.
