Lee County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer (SRO) witnessed two knives in plain view in a student’s vehicle in the parking lot at Lee County High School 1708 Nash St. Sanford.
After school administrators conducted a search of the student’s vehicle, two hunting style knives were found in the passenger area of the vehicle, a loaded semi-automatic pistol and three loaded magazines were located in the trunk of the vehicle.

Jake Marion Young (18) of 205 Acorn Dr. Sanford, NC was
arrested on scene and charged with felony possession of a firearm on school
grounds and misdemeanor possession of a weapon on school grounds. Young was
held under $10,000 secured bond.
All weapons were locked in Young’s vehicle while on school campus.
There were no threats made towards the students or staff in regards
to this incident.
