Traffic Complaint Leads to Drug and DWI Arrests in Tramway

At approximately 2:00pm Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call in regards to a vehicle driving dangerously in the area of Pendergrass Road on Highway US #1. Both Lee County Deputies and troopers with the North Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the area. Troopers quickly located the vehicle which appeared to have been involved in a single vehicle accident in front of Grace Christian Church on US #1, where the driver had lost control and was stuck in the median.


Upon arrival, troopers observed three occupants involved in the crash, none with injuries. The front passenger Travis Wayne Hudson age 34, of Leslie Road, Sanford attempted to flee the scene on foot from troopers. Lee County Sheriff’s Office narcotics agents and uniform deputies responded to assist in the apprehension. Hudson was taken into custody by troopers. Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics agents later discovered that Hudson was in possession of approximately 1 gram of Heroin and a set of digital scales.

The driver, Amanda Marie Tostado, age 31, of Palomino Drive apt #195, was taken into custody for suspicion of operating a vehicle under an impairing substance. Tostado was transported by troopers to Central Carolina Hospital to submit a blood draw for controlled substance analysis. Tostado’s two year old daughter, who was a passenger involved in the accident and not injured, was turned over to a family member.

Travis Wayne Hudson was processed and charged by agents for one count of possession with the intent to sell and deliver Heroin, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Hudson was jailed under a $10,000.00 secured bond.

Tostado was processed and charged by troopers for driving under the influence, failure to maintain lane control, careless and reckless and failure to restrain a child in a child safety seat. Amanda Tostado was released under a $1500.00 unsecured bond.  At the time of this press release, no picture was available for Amanda Tostado.
