Man Arrested For Drugs; Bond Set @ $225K

Friday night April 5, 2019 at approximately 10:30 pm, Lee County Sheriff’s uniform deputies responded to the area of 6800 Deerfield Drive in reference to a suspicious vehicle call.

Upon arrival, deputies found no one inside the vehicle nor in close proximity. Deputies did however observe a clear plastic sandwich type bag containing a somewhat large amount of white powdery substance.

Deputies advised Lee County Narcotics agents of the activity and a short time after notifying agents Rolando Moreno walked up to deputies from an address on Lemon Springs down Deerfield Drive, and began asking questions. Rolando Moreno informed deputies that, he was operating the car, until it unfortunately broke down where it sat. Once agents were on scene, it was determined that the substance sitting in the front seat in plain view was indeed powder form cocaine. Agents conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered one Pyrex glass cooking type, measuring cup inside the console and a set of digital scales hidden in the dash of the vehicle near the stereo.

Agents transported Moreno to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office for processing. Agents charged Rolando Moreno with one count of trafficking a schedule II substance by possession of 31 grams of cocaine, one count of possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine, one count of felony maintaining a vehicle used for the storage and sales of a controlled substance, and one count of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Moreno was jailed under a $225,000.00 secured bond.
