Joint Operation Nets 56 Plants

On Tuesday June 25th, 2019 Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics agents along agents with the North Carolina Counterdrug Program (CDP) which is a joint Army and Air task force comprised of Soldiers and Airmen from the North Carolina National Guard.


The CDP program is tasked to support local, federal and state law enforcement agencies with aerial and ground reconnaissance, and marijuana eradication took to the skies of above Lee County. The mission is simple, eradicate the growing of marijuana in NC.


Not long into the operation agents where made aware of marijuana growing on or possibly near the county line of Lee and Harnett in the Buckhorn Road area of the county. Harnett County Narcotics agents were made aware of the situation and responded to aid. It was determined that the marijuana being grown was indeed in Harnett County, at this time both Lee and Harnett County agents walked into the woods approximately two miles off the nearest paved road and seized 56 marijuana plants growing in several different small clearings in the woods. No arrest have been made at this time, however the investigation continues.
